Tierra Verde Soy Candles was conceptualized in June 2010 by Jeanette and her brother Bill. A portion of Tierra Verde’s profits are donated to a non-profit horse rescue farm called “Heaven Can Wait” which is located outside  San Luis Obispo. It is home to many retired race horses or horses that are injured or abused.
